Evening haiku

Peach sky - day rounded,
ripening to soft darkness.
Gentle fruit of time.

Haiku for uncertain times

Slow canal shimmers,
curves, dives to weir: crush, uprush,
turbulence and change.

Arrival at the monastery

Greeted by rowan
holding their improbable
berries like baskets.

Journey to the monastery

Cars ford the stream.
Disproving Heraclitus,
a kite pipes and I snooze.

Skye haiku

The loch shines, land green.
Candyfloss mist caught on pines
tugs free — Ardlui.

'Tween green arms's embrace
lone white sail braves Loch Harport,
fragile and serene.

My view this morning:
white amnesia. Yesterday's
mighty Cuillins - gone!

Climbing red Cuillins:
below, the silver river;
above, one more spur.

Beyond the old graves
distant dog-toothed Cuillins play
snap at wisps of cloud.

Fleeing mist and rain
in the low black house, photos
of a past hard life.

Thatch, stone walls, photos.
Sheltering in the old black house:
memories and me.

Evening at Dun Beag:
granite stones in the broch's wall
still bound sharp and tight.

Haiku

Morning run. Green grass,
ridge and furrow - the old land -
and my two new shoes.

Two views

This time now, looking
Back: life a tunnel receding,
Ever losing - Grace-fall.

Grace-fall - letting go
Into an open future.
Life now: this is Time.

Haiku

Grey dawn, asphalt hush:
Early flight. Sleep beswaddled,
Waiting for taxi.

Haiku

Frontdoor locked. Outside,
asphalt hiss of passing cars
'hind moonlit hedge - night.

Haiku

Intricate worship:
Wet leaves shiver their praises
To the blue-throned sun.

Haiku

Tampons on a path,
motorway a distant roar -
grey disconsolance.

Haiku

Black twigs water-jewelled,
Bird song a gushing fountain -
Lull on a winter's morn.

Haiku

Lost streets, smudged houses
Walking through winter fog - just
Now: no future or past.
